TAPELESS MOD 1.0 BETA - what's in it, and what to test
=======================================================

RECORDING
  FRAME RATE 30P (default) | 60I
30P removes the up-and-down shake ("bounce") the original firmware records.
60I is the original 60i recording, unchanged, for comparison.
  BITRATE STOCK | HIGH | MAX (default MAX) - about 8 / 15 / 30 Mbps at 60I; 30P records half.
Encoder quality floor lowered, so busy shots keep much more detail.
LOOK STANDARD (default) | CLEAN | VIVID | FLAT
Picture styles set in the video decoder. They change live as you pick them and are
remembered. CLEAN = least colour shimmer, FLAT = low contrast for grading.
FILES Clips are tagged 4:3 with the correct (BT.601) colour, so players stop squeezing
them to 3:2 and shifting the colours.

MENU (camcorder style, 3 pages: CAMERA SET / CUSTOM SET / OTHERS)
FRAME RATE, BITRATE, LOOK, RECORD, PLAYBACK, FORMAT SD,
SHORTCUTS, REC KEY, MENU COLOR, BEEP, CLOCK SET, VERSION, RESET
  - The focused row shows its setting on the right.
  - MENU / back closes the menu in one press.
  - Holding the wheel jumps a page.
SHORTCUTS double-flick the wheel LEFT or RIGHT in live view to run an action:
OFF | RECORD | PLAYBACK | MENU | LOOK | FRAME RATE (defaults: LEFT = LOOK, RIGHT = PLAYBACK)
A pop-up at the bottom confirms what happened.
REC KEY STOCK | SWAP. SWAP: tap the power button to start / stop recording, the record button
opens the menu. Holding the power button still turns the unit off.
Choosing SWAP shows a red warning; press OK to confirm.
MENU COLOR CLASSIC | AMBER | GREEN | RED | VAPOR | MONO - menu frame, highlight bar, and (new in
               1.0) the live-view top bar.
BEEP ON | OFF - OFF now also silences the key click and the power-off sound.
  VERSION shows 1.0 BETA.

LIVE VIEW
Sony-style top bar: battery icon + %, STBY / REC with a red dot, 0:00:00 counter.
It follows MENU COLOR (text and battery icon); low battery and the REC dot stay red.

START-UP / POWER-OFF
Power-on screen: TAPELESS 1.0 BETA. Make your own with "Make Custom Boot Screen.bat".
  Power-off: an old-TV switch-off animation.

ON YOUR COMPUTER (optional)
PowerPlay Converter.bat - drag clips onto it:
1 Quick fix (instant, lossless: right shape + colour tags) 2 ProRes for editing
    3 24p film 4 25p PAL 5 60p smooth (rebuilds full frames from 60I clips)
Make Custom Boot Screen.bat - your own picture on the power-on screen (specs in custom_boot_image).

WHAT TO TEST (please report anything odd)
[ ] Install goes through, VERSION says 1.0 BETA, the power-on screen shows TAPELESS 1.0 BETA.
[ ] 30P: record a scene with motion. No bounce, normal speed, audio present.
[ ] 60I: same scene. You should see the original bounce (that's expected).
[ ] BITRATE STOCK vs MAX: same scene, compare file sizes and detail.
[ ] LOOK: flip through all four while watching the screen, then record each.
[ ] Settings survive power-off: FRAME RATE, BITRATE, LOOK, REC KEY, MENU COLOR, SHORTCUTS.
[ ] SHORTCUTS: double-flick left and right in live view; try each action.
[ ] REC KEY SWAP: red warning + OK; tap power = record / stop; hold power = off.
[ ] MENU COLOR: each colour in the menu AND on the live top bar (new - least tested).
[ ] Long recording (10+ minutes) in 30P at MAX: no freezes, files play back.
[ ] Power-off animation, then power back on.
[ ] Custom boot screen: put your own picture in, flash, check it shows.

KNOWN LIMITS
  - 30P keeps one of the two video fields per frame: smooth and shake-free, slightly softer
vertically than an ideal progressive camera.
  - Holding the wheel can't scroll smoothly (the unit doesn't report when you let go), so it
    jumps a page instead.
  - The gallery / playback screens are the original ones.
